Telko acknowledges that some content available on the internet will be unsuitable for viewing or use by children, and seeks to ensure that the internet is a useful, safe and enjoyable tool for all customers. In compliance with the government's regulatatory body Australian Broadcasting Authority (ABA), and the Internet Industry Association (IIA), Australia's national body concerning internet commerce, content and connectivity, Telko wishes to issue families with advice and references to information which will ensure that the internet will be safer for viewing by children.

Telko actively complies with all initiatives, objectives and obligations set out by the ACMA, IIA and the Internet Content Regulation Scheme. We hope that the following information will be of assistance to families concerned with internet content.

Who Is The ACMA?
The Australian Communications and Media Authority is the government's regulatory body concerning all forms of communication in Australia in all media, employing measures promoting equity, fairness, suitability and awareness of community standards.

Who Is the IIA?
The Internet Industry Association is Australia's national body concerned with internet commerce, content and connectivity which plays a key role in identifying concerns regarding the internet. Central to dealing with these concerns is the formulation of "Codes Of Practice" aimed at governing internet content.

What Are "Filters"?
Filtering programmes, most commonly software, are designed to identify and block undesirable materials on the internet. Several approved programmes are available to customers, each offering an effective means of security. However, limitations do exist with present systems, making parental supervision still the desirable method of control.
